We work hard to create an inclusive workplace where Wavers of all backgrounds can come in and contribute in their own way to our team. Over the past few months, our efforts have been recognized by Great Places to Work, who have awarded us with various distinctions. We are very proud that every Waver has played, and continues to play, an integral part in receiving these awards.
2019 Best Workplaces for Millennials
Most recently, we received a spot on the "Best Workplaces for Millennials" list.We invest in Wavers from day one, aiming to grow and advance their careers at Wave, and beyond. In 2016, we introduced a mentorship program specifically designed for skill sharing: a voluntary program that pairs up two Wavers from different professional backgrounds and allows them to build new skills in a one-on-one setting, in topics ranging from project management to software development, to leadership, and beyond.

Since starting the program, more than 150 graduates have completed a mentorship in a variety of fields. Wavers have participated as both mentors and mentees, sharing their skills and knowledge, and fostering a stronger creative community.

2019 Best Workplaces for Inclusion
At Wave, we believe a diverse and inclusive culture is necessary for a winning team—you don’t get innovative products without diversity. The Best Workplaces for Inclusion award recognizes that same diversity and breadth of ethnicity, age, and gender that we love about our team.

2019 Best Workplaces for Women
To be eligible for the Best Workplaces for Women award, Wave is required to be GPTW certified in the past year, have a minimum of 15 female employees, and have 90% of employees agree that our workplace is safe, and people are treated fairly regardless of gender. This essentially means that our qualification is entirely based on our score from female Wavers, and we wouldn’t be a recipient of this award without a qualifying rating from them. We are so proud to see that our efforts to foster a fair and equal workspace are resonating with our team, and that everyone at Wave feels empowered and supported to effect positive change.
In the last couple of years, we’ve invested time and effort to move the needle on the gender breakdown for our ever-growing team. We’ve shifted from 80% male/20% female to 62% male/38% female, with an increasing number of women in senior roles. That needle is moving in all of our departments: from marketing, to finance, to product, too.
How do we make Wave an equal space for all? Our approach is hiring the best people, and then investing in their skills and careers.
All of these efforts have also earned us spots on the 2019 Best Workplaces™ for Mental Wellness, 2019 Best Workplaces™ in Canada – 100-999 employees and 2019 Best Workplaces™ in Technology by GPTW.
